The Academic Promotions Process for 2024 is now open, 29 January 2024.

All staff who wish to be considered for promotion through the Academic Promotion Process should ensure their application form (and associated documentation) is submitted to: academic.promotions@sussex.ac.uk by 11 March 2024. 

You can view guidance notes, key documents and forms to assist in the preparation of an application. Please read this information carefully as applications that do not follow the guidelines may not be considered. 

FAQs have been produced and these can all be found on the advice and guidance page for further assistance.

Please submit all applications to: academic.promotions@sussex.ac.uk by 9am on Monday 11 March 2024.

Academic Promotions Process timeline

• Monday 29 January 2024 – Academic Promotions applications open
  
  
• Monday 11 March 2024 – Academic Promotions applications close
  
  
• Monday 25 March – Friday 19 April 2024 - First panel meeting of the School Promotions Committee (SPC)
  
  
• Monday 22 April – Friday 3 May 2024 – Outcome letters sent following first panel meeting
  
  
• Monday 8 – Friday 26 July 2024 – Second panel meeting of the SPC
  
  
• Monday 29 July – Friday 9 August 2024 – Outcome letters sent following second panel meeting
  
  
• Early September 2024 – The Academic Promotions, Advancements and Titles Committee (APATC) meeting to confirm promotions to Reader and Professor
  
  
• Mid-late September 2024 - Outcome letters sent following APATC meeting for Reader and Professor

The effective date for all promotions will be 1 October 2024.
