Dissertation with Placement (Global Studies)

Module 003L7

Module details for 2024/25.

45 credits

FHEQ Level 7 (Masters)

Module Outline

This module is an alternative to the standard research-based MA/MSc Dissertation module and is
open to all Global Studies students. It is designed to support students to apply theories and concepts,
as well as practical and research skills, learned during the MA/MSc programme, whilst undertaking a
placement with an organisation (e.g. third sector / voluntary, public sector private sector).
These MA placements are research-based and enable students to carry out primary research for their
dissertation while at an organisation. Placements normally take place between June – August and last
for a minimum of 6 weeks. It is the student’s responsibility to identify suitable organisations for their
placement. Once an organisation has been identified, support is available within Global Studies to
help with the process until the placement begins
