Module Outline

What are human rights? How are they imagined, discussed, fought
for and resisted? This course explores human rights in the contemporary world, looking at
their philosophical and historical evolution, and forms and uses considering how they are
made real in the world. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, and thinking about different
cultural encounters and human experiences, we will think about how politics and culture
shapes these global practices, and how different groups understand, respond to, and
challenge such interventions.
