Module Outline
Geographers’ unique perspectives on understanding the world in synthesis are critical to rising to the challenges the 21st century, from global climate change to the impact of economic and political change on communities. But what does it mean to be a geographer? What are the ideas and approaches that define the discipline? And, what skills do we need to become a geographer? Through tutorials, workshops and a residential field-class, this module equips you with the necessary subject knowledge and study skills to adapt to university-level study and to become a successful geographer.
Module learning outcomes
Identity and summarise knowledge and understanding of changing conceptions of Geography as an academic discipline and as a practice.
Demonstrate an understanding of the necessary skills and attributes to become a successful geographer.
Demonstrate good communication skills in written and oral formats.
Demonstrate an ability to work effectively as part of a team.
