Module Outline

This course provides students with a grounding in the study of Global Political Economy. Focusing on the postwar period, it examines the evolution of the global political economy and considers its implications for individuals, groups, firms and political authority. In particular, this course traces the evolution of the global political economy from its multilateral grounding in the post war era to its present day globalising tendencies. Paying attention to the important theoretical issues and problems raised by the expansion of the global political economy, the course will focus on three interrelated themes: the internationalisation of production, the globalisation of finance and the changing nature of political authority, or the state on the globalisation of the structures of production, finance and governance and the effects of these trends.
