Spring teaching

On this module, you'll critically explore issues of social justice in childhood and youth. You'll examine international policies, questioning their origins and assumptions, and investigate how childhood is shaped by home, school and work.

Key topics include:

  • normative childhoods and cultural perspectives
  • childhood in different cultural contexts
  • challenges faced by displaced children, including unaccompanied migrant and refugee children
  • comparative case studies of childhood experiences.

Through critical analysis, you'll engage with global debates on children's rights, policy and social justice.

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 66 hours of contact time and about 234 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
