How and where do I upload information for my ßÏßÏÊÓƵ webpage?

Assuming you have requested and been provided with a web page (see FAQ 145), your home directory on the N drive will now automatically contain a folder called public_html, and you need to copy your files to this folder.  It is automatically linked so that the webserver will pick up the information in it.

You can put pictures, PDFs and Office documents up here as well as html files.  To provide a link to these documents follow this format:

http://users.sussex.ac.uk/~username/filename.fileextension

For example:

http://users.sussex.ac.uk/~ano123/report.pdf

To upload files from home, you need to use a Secure FTP client such as FileZilla or WinSCP to upload your HTML files and images.  The host name to connect your Secure FTP client to is unix.sussex.ac.uk with port 22.
