How do turn a ZIP file on the Unix system into an ordinary file?

The commands described below need to be entered while logged in to the Unix server.   Normally you'll see a prompt ending with $ when the command interpreter (or shell) is ready for another command.

You need to use the command unzip.   Enter the command

unzip -h

for a list of options and parameters.

For more detailed help, enter the command

unzip -hh

For even more detailed help, enter the command

info unzip

Use the equivalent commands to find out about the zip command.
