Can I connect my Blackberry, or other type of smart phone, to the wireless eduroam network?
It is possible for other makes of smart phone to connect to the network. If you are able to configure the device yourself the ßÏßÏÊÓƵ settings you should use are as follows
- SSID: eduroam
- Wireless 802.11 (A/B/G)
(5GHz 54Mbps/2.4GHz 11Mbps/2.4GHz 54Mbps)
- WPA2 enterprise encryption
- IP version 4
- Netmask: 255.255.255.255
- Transparent proxies (no settings required)
- 802.1X
(radius authentication for ßÏßÏÊÓƵ only, other establishments may use different certificates)
- Thawte Premium Server Certificate
- EAP method PEAP or TLS
- EAP Phase 2 authentication MSCHAPv2 or PAP
- Radius server: radius.sussex.ac.uk
- Username in format username@sussex.ac.uk (note lowecase)
Please note that IT Services may not be able to connect all new smart phone devices but will always attempt to resolve any connectivity issues if at all possible.
