How can I access my Mediafiles folder from a Windows computer on campus, and how can I create add this shortcut to my Windows desktop?

You can access your Mediafiles folder from a Windows PC on campus, and you can add a shortcut to the desktop of your computer to quickly return to the folder later.  Please follow these steps:

  1. Log in to a campus Windows PC
  2. Click the Windows button and choose Computer
  3. In the address bar, type \\mediafiles\mediafiles\ followed by your username (or the name of a group share if you have access to one), e.g. \\mediafiles\mediafiles\ano23, and press Enter to see your files

  4. On either Windows 7 or Windows 10 PCs, students can create a shortcut on their desktop to access the folder really easily by clicking and dragging the small folder icon (highlighted in the red box) on to their desktop.
