In Word, how can I convert footnotes back to normal text?


  1. Select the References tab and in the Footnotes group select the Show Notes icon
  2. Select the text only, do not select the end paragraph mark.
  3. Click on the Copy  icon, to copy the footnote
  4. Move back into the document window and position the cursor where you want the text.
  5. Click on the Paste  icon
  6. Locate the footnote number using Find ... , if necessary
  7. Select it and press Delete
