On this module, you’ll:

  • develop a strong foundation in understanding how public policy works, how the legal framework is designed and how existing gaps may be challenged
  • gain knowledge and understanding of how law and legal concepts are connected to public policy concerns
  • benefit from numerous case studies, where you practise applying concepts in public policy and law to real-life examples
  • improve your skills developing projects and making evaluative and research-led judgements over content.

Module learning outcomes

  • Distinguish between the different levels of policy making, namely, macro, meso and micro levels.
  • Understand the link between public policy making and the legal framework and how they inform each other.
  • Critically discuss the difference between policy making and politics of justice.
  • Critically analyse the justice gap between existing policies, legal frameworks and societal needs.
