UNIversal Gym Membership

Get access to more than 90 facilities at 70 university gyms nationwide with annual Gold ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport membership.

If you're an annual Gold ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport staff member, your membership gives you access to more than 90 facilities at 75 university gyms nationwide as part of the BUCS UNIversal Gym Membership scheme. Gyms include Surrey Sports Park and Kings College London.

So if you work at the ßÏßÏÊÓƵ but are visting Manchester for a conference you don't need to stop being active, as your membership will give you access to university gyms in Manchester too, plus many more!

What does UNIversal Gym Membership offer?

  • BUCS UNIversal gym membership gives you free entry to more than 90 facilities at 75 university gyms nationwide.

What are the benefits of signing up to the UNIversal Gym Memberships?

You can now stay active when you're travelling around the UK or visiting other participating universities for work at no extra cost.

What will happen on my first visit to a participating UNIversal Gym?

  • You'll need to complete a quick health questionnaire at the 'tourist' gym when you make your first visit. Upon satisfactory completion of the form, you'll be able to start using the new facility for no charge. 

Are there any restrictions?

  • Only staff and students with ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport annual Gold membership can use the gyms at participating universities between 1 September and 31 August each year. When using partner university facilities, you will be referred to as a ‘tourist’ member.
  • Participating universities will outline the exact facilities that tourist members can access, including any restrictions that may be in place. For example, you may not be able to use another university facility that is in close proximity to your full-time place of work. 
  • If you want to use the offer, you'll need to pick up a UNIversal Gym Membership card. These can be collected from ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport reception desks at the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex.
  • A UNIversal Gym Membership card needs to be shown alongside a valid ßÏßÏÊÓƵ staff photo ID card to gain access to any participating university gyms. Both cards must be shown together at every visit for the membership to be valid.

How do I join the BUCS UNIversal Gym Membership as a
ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport member?


The BUCS UNIversal Gym Membership is only available to ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport Annual Gold Members. If you are eligible to join, just follow these simple steps...

  • Register with BUCSPlay and login
  • Change the search function to UNIversal Gym of Study
  • Search for the location of your university
  • Click on ßÏßÏÊÓƵ - UNIversal Gym
  • Click Join
  • Choose joining for myself
  • Click the link to view Privacy Policy and consent to continue
  • Click Apply
  • Fill in details and select complete
  • Go to Community and select UNIversal Gym Membership 22-23
  • If eligible, ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport will then approve your application to the BUCS UNIversal Gym Membership
  • You will receive an email to confirm

 

Looking to book a BUCS UNIversal Gym Session?

  • All you need is your BUCS Play Account and an active BUCS UNIversal gym membership
  • Login to BUCS Play and 
  • Search the activities on offer
  • Choose the dates and times that you want to access the facility, then click register
  • Check the description and any information needed on your arrival.
  • Select ‘entering myself’ when prompted
  • Fill in the details where required
  • Select the sessions you wish to attend and click continue
  • Check dates and times and click complete
  • You will then receive a confirmation email and if the university has enabled them, a QR code
  • In ‘My Play’ you will see your booked activities

 

If you already have a Bronze or Silver ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport membership and want to be eligible for UNIversal Gym Membership, you can easily upgrade to ßÏßÏÊÓƵsport Gold membership, just pop into the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex reception, call 01273 678228, or email sussexsport@sussex.ac.uk.
