Professional Placement Year (Type A) (C8900)
120 credits, Level 5
Autumn and spring teaching
This module enhances the BPS-accredited Psychology degree and boosts your employability by offering full-year, full-time work placements during the third year of your 4-year Psychology degree. It gives you the chance to gain real-world experience in psychological work, apply what you've learned in the first two years, and develop new skills related to your specific placement. For example, some placements are offered through the ßÏßÏÊÓƵ Partnership Trust, where you could work alongside professional psychologists in areas like learning disabilities, ageing and dementia, or substance abuse.
Contact hours and workload
This module is approximately 1200 hours of work. This breaks down into about 8 hours of contact time and about 1192 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
We regularly review our modules to incorporate student feedback, staff expertise, as well as the latest research and teaching methodology. We’re planning to run these modules in the academic year 2024/25. However, there may be changes to these modules in response to feedback, staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum.
We’ll make sure to let you know of any material changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
