This module examines the relative economic performance of the main world regions, focusing particularly on comparative economic performance and political dynamics in China and Europe.

The module draws on geographic and political economic theories to explain geographies of wealth, poverty and power and explores the social, political and cultural foundations of economic life.

You'll study the main drivers of change, situating this within a wider context of globalisation, environmental and technological change and increasing economic and political interdependence.

40%: Coursework (Essay)
60%: Written assessment (Essay)

Contact hours and workload

This module is approximately 300 hours of work. This breaks down into about 30 hours of contact time and about 270 hours of independent study. The University may make minor variations to the contact hours for operational reasons, including timetabling requirements.
