We also offer an optional London weekend trip. If you want to attend, you must pay a £50 deposit after recieving your offer letter to secure your Summer School place.
What do the fees include?
Undergraduate Summer School
- Tuition fees
- Modules formally approved for 15 ßÏßÏÊÓƵ credits, equivalent to 7.5 ECTS or 3 – 4 US credits
- A minimum of 150 study hours, with a minimum of 40 hours class/teaching contact hours
- A transcript of studies upon successful completion of the module (including meeting all attendance and assessment requirements).
- All teaching and assessment for one module of study.
- Accommodation and campus life programme fees
- Your own private single occupancy bedroom on campus. This is accommodation with a mixture of shared or ensuite bathrooms and a communal kitchen for self-catering. Bedding pack - towel, pillow, sheet, pillowcase, duvet and duvet cover.
- Bedding pack - towel, pillow, sheet, pillowcase, duvet and duvet cover.
- Catering pack - the kitchen will be stocked with a range of cooking utensils, including pots and pans, and you will also have use of your own cutlery and crockery.
- Programme of free campus social events and activities throughout each session. Excursions and social programme trips will be provided on Fridays.
- Gold gym membership to our two sports centres on campus.
- Additional fees
Some of our modules have field trips included as part of the delivery. The cost of this is included in the tuition fees, however, you may be asked to pay travel costs. Any additional costs will be outlined at the start of your course.

Additional leisure or social, campus activities beyond the Programme events may incur an additional cost. These are optional and will be advertised nearer to the start of the Summer School.
Physics Summer School
- Tuition fees
- All teaching and assessment for one module of study
- A minimum of 150 study hours, with a minimum of 82 class/teaching contact hours
- Modules formally approved for 15 ßÏßÏÊÓƵ credits; equivalent to 7.5 ECTS or 3–4 US credits
- A transcript of studies upon successful completion of the module (includes meeting all attendance and assessment requirements).
- Accommodation and campus life programme fees
- Your own bedroom on campus in the East Slope student village. This is self-catering accommodation with a mixture of en-suite flats and standard flats with shared facilities.
- Bedding pack - towel, mattress, mattress protector, pillow, sheet, pillowcase, duvet and duvet cover
- Catering pack - the kitchen will be stocked with a range of cooking utensils, including pots and pans, and you will also have use of your own cutlery and crockery.
- Programme of free campus social events and activities throughout each session. Excursions and social programme trips will be provided on Fridays.
- Gold gym membership to our two sports centres on campus.
- Lab fees of £300 per session
- All laboratory sessions and full use of ßÏßÏÊÓƵ laboratory equipment
- Customised textbook that covers all material in our physics modules
- Additional costs

When do I pay the fees?
If you’re offered a place at our Summer School, you will be asked to pay a non-refundable deposit of £250. You are asked to pay this within four weeks of the offer to secure your place. The remaining programme fees are paid at registration before 13 June 2025.
You also need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £50 for the London weekend trip, if you choose to go. Find out more.
Remaining fees will include:
- outstanding tuition fees - tuition fees minus the £250 deposit
- accommodation and campus programme fee

Applicants from partner universities or via intermediaries
If you are applying from a partner institution or via an agency, you may be asked to pay your fees or a portion of your fees to them instead of Sussex.
If you’re not sure who to pay your fees to check with the study abroad office at your home institution or contact the Summer Programmes team at summer@sussex.ac.uk.
Note: If you are a Summer School student applying from one of our partner institutions, you will be entitled to a reduction in tuition fees. Please contact summer@sussex.ac.uk for more information.

What do the fees include?
The fees listed include registration, tuition and exams.
They do not include accommodation costs, extra-curricular language tuition, use of the sports facilities, club and society memberships, photocopying and printing.

Some modules include a compulsory requirement for you to take part in a field trip (e.g. art history). You must pay the whole cost of the field trip if this is the case.
When do I pay the fees?
You normally pay fees in full when you register. If you are studying at ßÏßÏÊÓƵ for the full academic year, you can pay your fees in instalments.

If you are an exchange student, you do not usually pay tuition fees to study term-time modules. However, you are liable to pay for special programmes.
