Manages Researcher Development Programme with series of workshops and events to help PGRs complete they postgraduate research degree and prepare for future careers. Also coordinates doctoral scholarship schemes, funding for presenting at international conferences and professional development activities.

The Student Rep Scheme is co-run by the ßÏßÏÊÓƵ and the ßÏßÏÊÓƵ Students' Union. Student Reps provide an essential link between students, the Union and the University. Postgraduate Research Student Reps are PGRs, elected by fellow students or self-nominated, to represent the views and interests of PGRs in their subject. Reps find out about issues impacting on students' studies and experience. They may raise these informally with individual members of staff or more formally at department, school, and university level committees in order to effect positive change.

Put in place reasonable adjustments (RAs) for students with long-term mental or physical health conditions and specific learning difficulties (e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia). RAs include for example specialist equipment, extensions, the support of specialist study skills or mental health mentors, library support (e.g. book collection), liaising with academic staff about support needs.

Advice on appealing, formal complaints and supervisory issues. Listens to feedback about your experience as a student and can advocate on your behalf and campaign for change. Feedback can also be given in confidence to your Student Rep and Education and Welfare Officer.

Advice on every stage of the planning and carrying out of the research and in the writing of the thesis itself. Including advice on training or specialist skills needed, ethical review, opportunities to present work, and guidance on the standard of work required. Approves requests of any change of status (e.g. intermission, pre-submission).
