Biography

My initial training is in economics (Argentina) and this was followed by a Masters degree in industrial economy and development and a PhD in science and technology policy studies (SPRU, UK).

My broad area of research is concerned with innovation, development and international economics.

Much of my work up to know has been on the effects of MNC activity on technological change and productivity in host developing countries. On this topic I have conducted studies on Argentina, and, with a ESRC post doctoral fellowship I am extending this work to India, Brazil and China.

I am also currently involved in two projects on Latin America about innovation and diversification in industries based in natural resources in Argentina, Brazil and Chile. Underlying this work are analytical and policy interests in the association between structural change and development.

I have extensive experience in data management and econometric analysis using firm level data.

Role

I am currently an ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow (February 2008 – July 2009)

After July 2009 I will be working on a SPRU strategic fellowship developing research proposals for SPRU and consolidating research outputs

I also currently supervise three research students working on innovation and development
